  • The editors will conduct a preliminary assessment of the evidence.
  • The authors concerned will be informed and given an opportunity to respond.
  • The case will be handled following the relevant COPE flowcharts. Where necessary, the authors' institution may be contacted.
  • The journal will inform the relevant parties of the outcome.

4. Possible Outcomes

Depending on the severity of the case, outcomes may include:

  • Rejection of the manuscript (before publication)
  • Publication of a correction
  • An expression of concern
  • Retraction of the article
  • A temporary ban on submissions from the authors involved
  • Notification to the authors' institution

5. Complaints

Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit complaints about the editorial process, including handling delays, the conduct of peer review, or ethical concerns. Send complaints to [email protected] with the subject line "Complaint – [Manuscript ID or Article Title]".

The journal will acknowledge each complaint within 7 working days and aims to resolve it within 30 days. If the complainant is not satisfied with the outcome, the matter may be referred to COPE.

6. Appeals

Authors who believe their manuscript was rejected because of an error or misunderstanding may submit an appeal under the following conditions:

  • The appeal is submitted in writing within 30 days of the decision.
  • It provides a point-by-point explanation, supported by evidence, of why the decision should be reconsidered.
  • It is reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief together with an editor who was not involved in the original decision. Additional reviewers may be consulted if necessary.
  • Only one appeal is permitted per manuscript, and the decision on the appeal is final.
  • While the appeal is under consideration, the manuscript must not be submitted to another journal.

Appeals that only express disagreement, without new evidence or arguments, will not be considered.
